Home Page ImageThe 2012 event will be the elevens Bikefest, and for the 1st time the 2012 Bikefest will be using the new Ashton Court course in its entirety. Launched at the 2011 Oktoberfest the new course has been a magnet for local riders as well as for riders from further a field and had enjoyed fantastic feedback. It also managed to get through its first race usage with honours – but you will get the chance to sample all that at the 2012 Bikefest.

2012 will again let you experience a double take of ‘Bikefest’ fun with the return of the October round - the one-day Oktoberfest event, which was successfully launched in 2010 with raving reviews. So if you want a similar mix of race packed action that the fantastic trails Ashton Court has to offer with the laid back atmosphere of the event, then the Oktoberfest with a few ‘bavarian’ touches thrown into the mix…the signing on and tea/coffee team dressed in typical Bavarian costume, pretzels at the bar, Bavarian flags everywhere and to top it all off - oompah music in the background, then come and join us.

The setup:
As in 2011 we will run the 12hr event on Saturday and the 6hr event on Sunday. The 6hr event is aimed at both new to the sport riders who fancy a challenge and 12hr riders who can’t get enough of the sweet Bristol single-track but want a little less time in the saddle. To accommodate young and new to the sport riders, we have a separate 3hr novice event on Sunday.

On Saturday all categories can be entered as solo riders, pairs or teams of 3 - 4 riders.
There will be three categories: Team Open, Team Old Gits (average age of riders needs to be 40+ years) and Team Single-Speed.
The exceptions to the rule will be:Sunday’s race will have only two team categories - Team Open and Team Old Gits (it will not have the Single-Speed category)
The separate 3hr novice event. We will only have a novice category and can be entered as a solo rider or a team of 2 – 4 riders

The entry fee:
The entry fee is £33 for each team member and solo riders entering the 12hr or 6hr event and £27 for each team member and solo riders entering the 3hr event. The entry fee includes ride entry, free usage of ‘comfort stations’, free usage of all facilities, finishing T-shirt for everyone, DJ & band and free parking.

Entries are limited – if any spaces are still available, entry on the day is possible but will be subject to a £5 surcharge (per rider, per team). Make sure you enter now to save yourself some money and keep the hassle on the day and queuing time and registration to a minimum.

The course:
The course boasting the best bit of the Ritchey Bristol Bikefest with its super fast single-track and the scaffold bridge will get a few refinements so keep your eyes on the web site for the latest news about the course.

The venue:
The event will be based at the top part of Ashton Court, Bristol. As the racing starts at 9am, to make the best of the hot sunny June daylight times, most riders arrive on Friday afternoon to check out the course (open from 5.00pm onwards) and to ease into an action packed cycling and camping weekend. As in 2011 there will be a DJ playing some tunes on Friday evening with a bar and caterers in the event village, ready to set you up for a weekend of flat out racing. Saturday night will see the main party with live music, DJ and bar.

We will once again have two separate campgrounds with showers (situated at the Rugby Club) and toilets in close proximity to the event village.

ACTION: If you are intending to camp with another team, please let us know by cover note or email well in advance of the event so that we can try and allocate you a pitch next to each other.
