Ritchey Bikefest 2011 powered by Mercedes-Benz Vito Sport
After years of being known as the Kona Bristol Bikefest one of the original supporters Ritchey Components have stepped up and have taken the title sponsorship for the 2011 event(s) on. But besides the name change the Ritchey Bikefest 2011 will carry on where the 2010 season has left off.
The 2010 Bristol Bikefest was another great year for the riders with perfect conditions on the course and lots of smiling faces around the course. More the 1,800 riders took part in the three events on offer with the 12 hour event on Saturday being yet again the main attraction of the weekend.
Mercedes-Benz Vito Sport back on board to support the event(s)
The Team of Mercedes-Benz Vito Sport will be back on board in 2011 supporting the Bikefests events once more. They had a great time in 2010 being at the events, getting involved in the riding, taking lots if pictures and shooting some really nice films. The Mercedes-Team will be on site for the event showing off their latest ‘mountain biker’ approved vehicles.
Ritchey Bristol Bikefest powered by Mercedes-Benz Vito Sport 4th - 5th June 2011 – Ashton Court, Bristol
In 2011 the Ritchey Bristol Bikefest powered by Mercedes-Benz Vito Sport will return once more to the fantastic event location of Ashton Court, Bristol. But this year we got something new. With the trail development currently going on in Ashton Court we will have a new course for this year. It will be similar in length, amount of climbing and will keep its big proportion of the much loved singletrack. We will keep riders updated through our newsletter and websites about the developments. The infamous 12 hour team/solo endurance race will take place on Saturday the 4th June and will be followed the day after (5th June) by the 6 hour team/solo event and the 3 hour ‘novice’ event.
Both days are aimed at the experienced rider as well as the newcomer. On Saturday we will have solo, pairs and teams of 4 categories. The Sunday race will have the same categories. All team sizes can be entered in the team open, team ‘old gits’ (average age of riders needs to be 40+ years) or single speed category (please note - no single speed category on Sunday). There are obviously mixed teams and pairs in the running as well. Besides that the 3 hour novice event will have teams of 2-4 and a solo category.
Besides the race action there will also be a great musical line-up, with live music on Saturday night and DJ running from early evening late into the night on Friday and Saturday. On top of that there will a bar on Friday and Saturday, the Bikefest food village and a colourful event village with a broad selection of the latest bikes and kit.
Facilities and camping:
The in 2009 introduced showers and overflow camp ground will return offering the riders more camping space as well as all the facilities you can expect from one of the biggest MTB events in the country. The main camping will still be found next to the action at the usual location next to the start/finish & event village (make sure you enter soon to guarantee your slot) with some extra camping only a few hundred yards away. Showers and bike washing facilities will also be located only a couple hundred yards away from the main arena.
But there is more…
The in 2010 introduced Oktoberfest which attracted more than 900 riders to Ashton Court and spoiled them once more with perfect riding conditions, a ‘warm up feed station’, (almost) non-stop Oompah-Music and lots of Bavarian touches. The Ritchey Oktoberfest powered by Mercedes-Benz Vito Sport will return for a second helping in…yes you guessed it October. More details about the 2nd event later on in the year.
