It is only
a few weeks now before the Ritchey Bristol Bikefest (9-10th June 2007)
will kick off in Ashton Court, Bristol.

The last few weeks have been super busy which kept us from bringing
you more regular news but we will try to improve on that for the rest
of the season and in particular leading up to the Kona Cheddar Bikefest
(29-30th September 2007).
Entries for Bristol – solo and pairs
full
First of all we have heard a rumour going around that the Ritchey
Bristol Bikefest is full. That is not true. What is true is that the
12 hour event on Saturday (9th June ’07) has continued to attract
big numbers and we are now forced to close the entry on solo and pairs
riders. However the teams of four and teams of eight are still available
but even here you have to be quick. To enter the 4 or 8 team event
of the 12 hour Saturday of the Bristol Bikefest go to http://www.bike-fest.com/bristol/index.php,
click on the ENTRIES and download the entry form. To see who else
has entered and who you might be up against check the ‘ENTRIES’
page: http://www.bike-fest.com/bristol/entries.php.
Sunday is also getting busy but here we still have all categories
up for grabs. To enter the Sunday events simply follow the same procedure
as mentioned above.
Loyalty gift – don’t miss out
We believe that it has slightly slipped through the system that we
have paired up with our sponsor Paligap (UK Ritchey and Kona distributor)
to give every rider who is taking part in the Saturday and the Sunday
event a ‘loyalty gift’ (worth at £15) - so everybody
who has already entered both events or who is going to will be rewarded
when you sign on. Maybe worth considering giving the 6 hour solo a
go once you have tackled the course on Saturday in a team of four
or maybe the other way round. And don’t forget due to the UK
Single Speed Champs which will be held on Sunday (10th June) morning
the start to the 6 hour event will be at 11am – so that will
give you an extra hour of recovery time. Our ‘loyalty gift’
offer applies also for taking part in the Bristol event and the Cheddar
event later in the year.
And if you don’t qualify for a loyalty gift you can still make
use of the great ‘Try 3 issues of What Mountain Bike for £3’
our friends from What Mountain Bike have just send through to us.
Get yourself a deal by clicking www.myfavouritemagazines.co.uk/wmb/2012.
By the way this obviously also goes for the ones among you who do
quality for the ‘loyalty gift’.
UK Single Speed Championships
The UK Single Speed Championships which will take place on Sunday
morning are filling up quickly with only 20 odd places still up for
grabs. So if you are interested then hop onto http://www.ssuk07.com/.
Due to the event being held before the 6 hour event on Sunday the
start of the enduro has been moved back to 11am.
Event Village – bigger and better than
2006
The industry interest in the relaxed atmosphere and the great course
in Bristol has continued with bookings from Ritchey, Kona, High5,
Shred, Giant, Cannondale, Cube, Marin, Santa Cruz, Pedros, Bionicon,
Formular, Focus and Hope. All these guys will have their latest gear
on display and a selection of test bikes available…and if you
know the Bristol course you know what a great test track in particular
for suspension products it is.
Cheddar news
Once the Ritchey Bristol Bikefest is over our attention is going to
focus on the ‘rebirth’ of the old classic Cheddar Challenge
now called Kona Cheddar Bikefest, (www.cheddarbikefest.com). After
the event being put on hold in 2006 we have joined forces with the
old organiser and are bringing it back to life. The Kona Cheddar Bikefest
will follow the same concept as the Bristol Bikefest with just slightly
shorter riding times as the days are getting shorter. But besides
the great riding, which especially the ‘older riders’
will remember with a smile on their face from the good old days of
Cheddar challenge, there will be an expo area with lots of companies
showing off their latest gear which is more than likely to be the
newest 2008 stuff!!
Entries are open - please go to http://www.bike-fest.com/cheddar/index.php,
click on the ENTRIES and download the entry form. As mentioned before,
if you have entered the Ritchey Bristol Bikefest and the Kona Cheddar
Bikefest then we will have a nice ‘loyalty present’ waiting
for you when you sign on in Cheddar. It goes without saying that we
will also reward riders who will enter both days at the Kona Cheddar
Bikefest.
And don’t forget the Cheddar Bikefest is held at the Broadway
House Camping Park (www.broadwayhouse.uk.com)
which has special offers for the riders and first class facilities.
Not to mention the excellent stationary caravans.
