Kona Bristol Bikefest 2008
Briefing notes:
To all competitors of the 2008 Bristol Bike Fest.
Here are some notes to help you all over the two day event.

Arrival
You can arrive any time after 3:00PM on Friday the 6th of June at the camp site and set up. The event and camping is signposted from Longwood Lane at the back of Aston Court estate.
The gates will be locked at 9:30PM on Friday night and reopened at 6:30AM on Saturday morning; the key for the gate will be under the cone to the side if no one is there, please open up THEN CLOSE AND LOCK BEHIND YOU, thank you.
Camping
Those of you camping will be shown to the camping area, there are 2 fields. One near the arena and a 2nd quiet field further away, please ask where you want to go.
There are a few camping rules laid down by the land owners of Ashton Court they are as follows:
1. NO disposable Bar-B-Q’s as they scorch the grass, please use ones on legs to keep off the grass.
2. NO OPEN FIRES, YOU WILL BE THROWN OFF SITE IF WE CATCH YOU.
3. Please put all rubbish in the skip provided
4. Please drive slowly on the entry / exit road at all times, 10MPH max.
Registration
The registration vehicle will be open from 5:00PM on Friday afternoon until around 8:00PM, then again from 7:00AM until 8:15AM on Saturday morning; at registration you will get your Race pack including your number boards and for those you entered in the first 350 your free Kona Bristol Bikefest 08 tee shirts.
Race Day
The Saturday (12 hour) race starts at 9:00AM sharp and there will be a quick briefing before we start, could you please make sure you are at are the start line at 8:45am for the briefing this includes all team members so they can hear what’s being said.
The same goes for the Sunday (6 hour) race which will get started at 10:00AM sharp. There will be a quick briefing before we start, could you please make sure you are at are the start line at 9:45AM for the briefing this includes all team members so they can hear what’s being said. Even if you have ridden on the Saturday PLEASE make sure you are there for the briefing as there might be some changes from Saturday to Sunday.
The estate of Ashton Court is open to the public over the race weekend and there will be walkers and horses about, please remember we do have right of way but please be polite and DO NOT scream up behind them and shout at them, many thanks.
Please be extra careful at road crossing point.
Teams must have only one member on the course at any one time, if you are not going for glory then you can all chill out if you want.
Riders need to change over in the transition area after passing the Time-lapse timing vehicle, it will be clearly signposted. Simply enter the area after your lap, touch your team mates arm and off you go. Riders can come and go freely from this area at any time.
Food will be available on Friday night, all day Saturday and all day Sunday from early till after the race has finished, as will quality coffee, lattes etc and pastries; the bar will open at around 5:00AM and will stay open till around 11:00AM.
If anyone hurts themselves then please advice a marshal who will radio the first aid ambulance team, they will be available during all race times.
The race lasts for 12 hours (and 6 hours on Sunday) and will stop at 9:00PM sharp (and at 4:00PM on Sunday – start on Sunday is at 10:00AM), if you are not back by this time the lap you are on will NOT count, please work out your lap time throughout the day and leave enough time to get your last one in.
There will be spot prizes on the day at the organiser’s discretion, if your Team or Solo number is called out please come to the registration vehicle to collect your gift.
Drinking water and toilets with hot wash basins are located in the main arena; there are NO showers on site due to no running water or drains being available.
Commentary
We have a race commentator this year so please give him some back ground on your team and he will let the event know all about you, what you are racing for, how you trained, how you are getting on, etc, etc, let him know on the day and he will big your team up.
After the race there will be a prize giving ceremony in the main marquee and the band will be playing afterwards as will the DJ, mixing up some tunes - Par---tay time!!
The same format applies for Sunday as did for Saturday, the only difference is you are only doing half the time so the race finishes at 4:00PM sharp. All people camping over must be gone by 7:00PM on Sunday evening.
