Welcome to the 14th Ritchey Bristol Bikefest - one of the UKs longest standing mountain bike endurance races. Once again held at the famous all weather fast flowing singletrack course in Ashton Court.
Ok, not blessed with the Bikefest typical ‘door to door’ sunshine but never the less another fantastic, emotional, kind of cider fuelled (at least for some), partly muddy yet fun packed weekend. The 14th Bristol Bikefest sponsored by Ritchey and Heritage Volkswagen had a long stint of perfect weather leading up to it but the ‘dark cloud’ of heavy summer showers and thunderstorms loomed over the event. Even the famous ‘good weather flip flops’ of event organiser Paul Newman could not bring out the sunshine but at least they turned the forecasted biblical downpours into a gentle drizzle. Just returned from the Bikefest venue after the first round of cleaning up. We will have a proper report including video and lots of pictures in the next few days.

On the 13th June the Ritchey Bristol Bikefest powered by Heritage Volkswagen will return to the trails of Ashton Court, Bristol for the 14th issue of the Fest. And with only a month (and a bit) to go preparations are in full flow BUT entries are also soon to close – so be quick now!!!
With the Bikefest seeing entry surge after entry surge we are heading to the ‘sell out’ number in big steps. So (if not before) the entry will close on the 17th May. The only event/category staying open will be the ‘Steve Worland ride singletrack hard & drink a swig of cider per lap memorial cup’ but more about that further down. (more…)
