Welcome to the homepage of the Stans NoTubes Oktoberfest 2012 powered by Mercedes-Benz Vito Sport.
Following the successful launch of the Oktoberfest last year and the many rounds of the Bristol Bikefest, the event will return to Ashton Court on the 15th October 2011 with the newly named Ritchey Oktoberfest. We will again do our best to make 2011 even better and offer you the riders yet another enjoyable and challenging experience.
The 2012 event will be the third Oktoberfest and the smaller and slightly german brother of the Bikefest will return with the much loved (and well tested) Ashton Court Course as well as the other Oktoberfest typical features.
Feedback on the course which was officially launched at the 2011 Oktoberfest has been superb with racers and beginners alike enjoying its flow and the sheer endless amount of challenging single track. The feared that overtaking might be problematic (due to the single track heavy nature of the course) was completely unfounded and the new course passed with flying colours in its race debut.
Even with the Oktoberfest in the last two years being blessed with superb weather it is good to know that the new course will be pretty much 100% weather proof which will make for a fast and enjoyable Oktoberfest – doesn’t matter what the weather has in store!
The NoTubes Oktoberfest will return with all the Oktoberfest typical characteristics: for example, we will have the ‘comfort station’, which will have coffee, tea, biscuits, etc. on tap for the riders when they finish their lap as well as a few more Bavarian undertones thrown into the mix… the signing on and tea / coffee team dressed in typical Bavarian costume, pretzels at the bar, Bavarian flags everywhere and to top it all off - oompah music in the background.
The events:
Ritchey Bristol Bikefest: 9th-10th June 2012 GO>>
Stans NoTubes Oktoberfest: 13th October 2012 GO>>
The setup:
The Oktoberfest is a one-day event which will take place on Saturday the 13th October giving everybody the chance to bring the event season to the ideal end with some first class racing followed by some chilling and partying after the event. The Oktoberfest will have an 8hr event as well as two 4hr events. This should give everybody the chance to find the perfect length for his or her final MTB event of the season.
The 8hr event will have solo, pairs and teams of 3 - 4 rider categories – all available in Teams Open, Team Old Gits (average age of riders needs to be 40+ years) and Single-Speed.
The two 4hr events will be the same as except there will be no Single-Speed category.
The entry fee:
The entry fee is £33 for each team member and solo riders entering the 8hr event and £27 (per race) for each team member and solo riders entering the 4hr event. The entry fee includes ride entry, free usage of ‘comfort stations’, free usage of all facilities, finishing present for everyone, DJ & band and free parking.
Entries are limited – if any spaces are still available, entry on the day is possible but will be subject to a £5 surcharge (per rider, per team). Make sure you enter now to save yourself some money and keep the hassle on the day and queuing time and registration to a minimum
The course:
The NEW course boasting the best bit of the Stans NoTubes Oktoberfest with its super fast and well flowing single-track will be ridden in the same direction as the Bikefest has been for the last 10 years. With all the effort and material going into the maintenance of the course we will have a pretty much all weather course! Besides going by our records – the last four Octobers have seen some of the driest months of the year.
The venue:
The event will be based at the top part of Ashton Court, Bristol. As the racing starts at 9am or 1pm (if you are starting the second 4hr event), most riders arrive on Friday afternoon to check out the course (open from 5pm onwards) and to ease into an action packed cycling and camping weekend. As in 2011 there will be a DJ playing some tunes on Friday evening with a bar and caterers in the event village, ready to set you up for a weekend of flat out racing. Saturday night will see the main party with live music, DJ and bar.
